The standard template is built for Adobe Illustrator and works with several layers. It's also how you create special effects such as transparent or metallised areas. The simplified template has no layers, so it can be opened in many common tools that export print-ready PDFs, such as Canva or Photoshop. In return, it doesn't support special effects.
