PPWR

The PPWR (Packaging and Packaging Waste Regulation) is the EU Regulation (EU) 2025/40 on packaging and packaging waste. As a regulation, it has applied directly in all EU member states since 12 August 2026, without having to be transposed into national law first. It replaces the previous EU rules on packaging and aims to reduce packaging waste, improve recyclability and create uniform rules across the EU single market.

Since August 2026, the requirements have included a declaration of conformity, labelling requirements and PFAS limits for food packaging. Further requirements, such as harmonised material labelling, will follow gradually. Everything Packiro customers need to know is on our PPWR page.
