MOSH stands for mineral oil saturated hydrocarbons, i.e. saturated hydrocarbons from mineral oil sources. It is a group of chemicals that can occur as contaminants in food, packaging and cosmetics.
Unlike MOAH (aromatic mineral oil hydrocarbons), MOSH are considered less harmful, but can accumulate in the human body (e.g. in the liver, spleen, fatty tissue), which could have long-term effects.
MOSH can enter products through:
Packaging materials
Lubricants and production aids
Contaminated raw materials or transport containers
Good news: our Packiro packaging is proven to be free of MOSH (and also free of MOAH).
