Labelling requirements

Since 12 August 2026, the PPWR has required packaging to carry certain information: an identifier such as a batch or serial number, the manufacturer’s name or trademark, their postal address and an electronic means of contact. This also applies to transport packaging such as shipping boxes. The information can be included directly in the print design or provided via a QR code.

By 12 August 2028 at the latest, harmonised pictogram-based labelling of the material composition will be added across the EU. The European Commission has yet to define the exact specifications.
