Package and Protect Your Products with Plant Power from Biobased Materials in a Natural Paper Appearance!
Paper packaging is an environmentally friendly alternative to conventional plastic packaging. However, protection against humidity and grease is a huge challenge. Therefore, an additional protective layer of plastic is usually used on the inside.
A sustainable alternative: Our bio-based Ben combines paper haptics with an inner protective layer made of renewable raw materials and reduces additional CO2 emissions!
Conventional plastic packaging uses fossil oil, which generates additional CO2 when extracted and burned.
For our bio-based Ben, on the other hand, we use plastic from plants that absorb CO2 from the atmosphere for their growth. Currently, bio-based packaging is generally burned because of a lack of biological recycling. However, only the same amount of CO2 is released as was previously absorbed by the plant. This leads to a better CO2 balance.

Ben has excellent protective properties against UV radiation and good basic protection against oxygen and moisture. This makes the packaging very suitable for dry products such as sugar substitutes, nuts, tea, capsules and all forms of muesli. It's best to test your products in our Ben sample pouches in the sample kit.
Our Biobased Ben meets all the requirements for industrially compostable packaging. However, there are currently very few sorting and composting facilities in Germany which are able to do this. Therefore, Ben and all other compostable packaging are disposed of with non-recyclable waste and incinerated. As soon as more facilities meet the conditions for recycling compostable packaging, Ben can also be composted industrially.
Although paper-bioplastic packaging is currently not recyclable, the use of biobased and compostable packaging can still make sense. Especially when:
You sell your products in countries without efficient plastic recycling
A paper package, like our Natural Nils, with barrier paper is too unstable
You are using a conventional packaging made of paper and a plastic film, such as our Robust Robin, which is basically incinerated.
Get free packaging samples and discover first-hand how Ben protects your products with plant-based materials and presents them in a sustainable way with a high-quality paper feel. Check the fit of your preferred size and see for yourself the sustainability behind every fibre.
What you can expect in your free sample kit
Would you like to find out how well your sweets and our packaging go together? Order our free sample kit now, experience the look and feel of our packaging and test its compatibility with your product in a test filling. This is what awaits you in your sample kit:
Ben has excellent protective properties against UV radiation and good basic protection against oxygen and moisture. Therefore, the packaging is particularly suitable for dry products such as sugar substitutes, nuts and all forms of muesli such as granola, oatmeal and porridge. Ben is also very suitable as a refill bag for capsules or tea.
The material is less suitable for cosmetics and coffee. For heavy products like protein powder we recommend you to do a filling test.
Most bioplastics (including the PLA bioplastic used for Ben) are basically suitable for composting. If individual countries decide to enable their sorting and composting facilities to compost bioplastics, they can also be meaningfully recycled. In practice, however, this is still difficult, so such plastics usually end up in the waste incineration plant. More information on compostable packaging can be found here.
Ben is equipped with a tear notch and a zipper so that your customers can easily open the packaging and close it securely. Even a euro hole for hanging in the store is no problem. You can order the FSC® seal for sustainable forestry directly in the store and integrate it into your design. There is currently no aroma valve available for order at Ben.
Our Ben material is made of environmentally friendly paper certified by the Forest Stewardship Council® (FSC®) organization for sustainable forestry. Our pouch packaging is resource-saving in production, consumes little CO2 in transport due to its low volume and weight, and is produced exclusively in Europe. This keeps transport distances short and the CO2 footprint small.
All our flexible packaging forms are produced and printed in Germany and other EU countries. Proximity means that processes can be better controlled and optimised more quickly. Material safety is also always guaranteed. We avoid long transport routes and thus consume less CO2. After all, as a packaging manufacturer we have a great responsibility for our environment and put minimising our ecological footprint on our agenda every day.
The regular production and delivery time (standard) is 4-6 weeks for our stand-up and flat pouches and 4-7 weeks for our flat-bottom pouches. If you want it to be quicker, you can choose Express (3-4 weeks) or Express+ (10 working days) for our stand-up and flat pouches.
