LDPE

The term LDPE stands for soft polyethylene (Low Density Polyethylene). Polyethylene is a semi-crystalline thermoplastic and belongs to the group of polyolefins. In the packaging industry, the material is used as film or similar to make pouches. It consists only of hydrogen and carbon. Therefore, it can ideally be burnt in waste incineration to form carbon dioxide and water vapour. LDPE is not as hard as other plastics and has a high ductility. For these reasons, LDPE is also called soft polyethylene.
